“Ruth Whitney’s research and insightful communication strategy helped me wage a winning campaign”
Attorney General Jim Hood
A Democrat winning statewide office in a heavily Republican state like Mississippi is never an easy task. Ruth Whitney worked with Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood to help him navigate a difficult political climate for his reelection bid in 2007. Polling revealed that voters responded favorably to Attorney General Hood’s biography and personal experience, and Hood was able to incorporate these advantages into an overarching strategy to identify and turn out the swing voters he would need to win. On election day, Hood outperformed any Democrat running statewide, winning 60% of the vote—exceeding even the victory margins of Republican Governor Haley Barbour. Hood will again seek re-election in 2011 and continue to expand his office’s work hunting child pornographers and internet predators, protecting elderly citizens, and shielding Mississippians from corporate wrongdoers.
